Open Council Board of Directors Seat

Job Opening: Emlenton Borough Secretary (Part-time)

Emlenton Borough is seeking a detailed-oriented and organized individual for the position of Borough Secretary (part-time). If you are passionate about serving your community and have strong office skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to phone messages and emails
  • Communicate daily with Borough officials and departments
  • Prepare required Borough reports, ordinances and resolutions
  • Perform banking and use QuickBooks
  • Attend Monthly Borough Council Meetings

Requirements:

  • Prefer a resident of Emlenton Borough for at least 1-year
  • 15-20 hours per week
  • Office experience required
  • Starting pay: $15.50 per hour w/pay increase after 90-day review

Guidelines for Brush Pick Up

  • Last day for brush pick up is October 20th, and leaf pick up will begin on October 21st.

  • Brush will be picked up every Monday starting the 1st Monday in April depending on weather conditions.
  • Brush and leaves can be placed in recyclable paper lawn bags, containers no larger than 32 gallons. Bundles will be tied in less than 4 feet in length, 2 feet in diameter and will not exceed 2 feet in height.  Brush removal shall not exceed 25 lbs. No more than 4 containers.
  • No plastic bags, these will no longer be picked up. Also, there is not to be any garbage in containers or recyclable bags.
  • Recyclable bags can be purchased at the Borough Office in a bundle of 5 for $2.50. They can also be purchased at any lawn or garden store.

  • All brush pick up must be placed at the curb and must be there no later than 6am Monday.

  • A permit to have additional containers picked up on the scheduled Tuesday pick up can be purchased by calling the Emlenton Borough Office at 724-867-8611. You can purchase a permit for $5.00 for extra containers (following the guidelines above).  Permits must be purchased 24 hours prior to pick up.

When mowing, please do not blow grass on the street!
